The island just off the coast of Perak is Pulau Pangkor. It can easily reached by the ferry service from Lumut. With a 8 sq. km and 25,000 people living on this island, the main source of income for these people is primarily fishing. The government of Malaysia has done little to promote this place as a tourist destination. Initially Pangkor was the hiding place for fisherman and pirates, but over the period it became the threshold of the Dutch and later on in the colonization movement of the British. The island has many great beaches and has quite a few 5-star hotels. The areas of Teluk Nipah and Coral Bay are a great part for the European travelers. The recent occurrence of Tsunami in these regions have however, reduced the tourist volume.
The best part of buying property in Pangkor, is its pristine beaches, no buildings and less volume of cars. And one can travel the island on a two-wheeler. The place is not fully developed, but the real estate properties are selling like hot cakes. Its proximity to forests is it added attractive point. Though the vacant places are mostly at the foot hills of Nipah Bay, yet primary houses are built in between Pangkor town and Pasir Bogak. So move to this great island for a life time of peace and serenity.
